The Three Brothers Guide
The Three Brothers Guide will focus on the natural wonders of our region, with highlights on our four National Parks, our state forests and the Cattai Wetlands. It will be published online and in print, with printed copies distributed locally and through regional distribution networks.
The guide will have published sections based on touring routes (highlighted in gold on the map), and each of those sections will contain information relevant to that area.
Topics included are:
-
The Three Brothers Landscape, including notes on geology, formation, traditional land uses, forestry,
-
Legends and Stories involving the Three Brothers Region, whether Indigenous or white settler history,
-
Flora and Fauna of the region, highlighting the Middle Brother Wattle, Red King of the Fairy Orchid, and other unique species,
-
Tourist Sites and features of touristic interest including natural features, established attractions, and
-
Visitor Facilities, such as picnic areas, accommodation, local eateries, rest stops, and events of interest.
The cultural heritage component of the project was conceived through liaison and development of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Three Brothers Network Aboriginal Heritage Group (AHG) and the Taree-Purfleet, Bunyah and Biripi Local Aboriginal Lands Councils. No specific information or locations will be given for any sites of cultural, botanical, or other sensitivity.
