The Three Brothers Network was recently funded by an Australian Government Community Action Grant in partnership with Hastings Landcare, Inc. to publish a Three Brothers Guide to the region.

The Three Brothers Working Group

Our Three Brothers Guide Working Group was established under the 3BN to produce the Three Brothers Guide with the following members:

The Three Brothers Guide

The Three Brothers Guide will focus on the natural wonders of our region, with highlights on our four National Parks, our state forests and the Cattai Wetlands. It will be published online and in print, with printed copies distributed locally and through regional distribution networks.

The guide will have published sections based on touring routes (highlighted in gold on the map), and each of those sections will contain information relevant to that area.
Topics included are:
  • The Three Brothers Landscape, including notes on geology, formation, traditional land uses, forestry,
  • Legends and Stories involving the Three Brothers Region, whether Indigenous or white settler history,
  • Flora and Fauna of the region, highlighting the Middle Brother Wattle, Red King of the Fairy Orchid, and other unique species,
  • Tourist Sites and features of touristic interest including natural features, established attractions, and
  • Visitor Facilities, such as picnic areas, accommodation, local eateries, rest stops, and events of interest.
The cultural heritage component of the project was conceived through liaison and development of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Three Brothers Network Aboriginal Heritage Group (AHG) and the Taree-Purfleet, Bunyah and Biripi Local Aboriginal Lands Councils. No specific information or locations will be given for any sites of cultural, botanical, or other sensitivity.

Three Brothers Region Projects PDF Print E-mail
Written by Lorri Fischer

For businesses and primary producers in our Three Brothers region who have not yet heard of the 3BN, I’d like to personally invite you to learn more about other businesses in our area.

After taking just a quick look around the Cattai Wetlands with our  3BN photographer (see photos pages 6—8), I can tell you that this is going to be an amazing natural wonder in our Three Brothers region, making our area even more attractive as a destination. Bird-watching groups are already flocking to the area and a “Breakfast with the Birds” event is planned for the near future  This is great for our accommodation and other businesses relying on tourism. As soon as the toilet facilities are completed the Wetlands will be open to the public. I highly recommend a visit.

Earlier this year, we completed our $1.1 million project, to put in a series of Visitor Tourism and Transport Stations (VttS) at Kew, Johns River, Moorland and Moorland Heights.    It was a mammoth effort by our team, spearheaded by 3BN Secretary, Keith Allen.

I’ve met with Regional Development Australia and at their function at Rosie’s Cafe and Gallery in Johns River, and we had a very favourable response. David Shepard also kindly took the project to NSW Transport Minister with the assistance of our local MP, Leslie Williams.   The project was well-received  and really will be great for ALL business in our area once up and running.

Having been to the recent Manning Produce Dinners at Diamond Beach and Harrington, I can see the importance of networking in action.  One great initiative which the Three Brothers Network is supporting is the very smart “Farm Gate Tours”.

This great idea by Hastings Landcare will see a weekend of tours — direct to farm gates. Also sponsored by LJ Hooker Laurieton,   if you would like to have your farm included in the tour, please call Daintry on 6556 5099.

Remember: This is YOUR Network, so use it!

Please take a tour of our 3bn.com.au website and consider joining us soon!
